Michael "Mike" Lee Rodgers, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at Life Care Center.
He was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, to William Bruce and Mary Lou Freeman Rodgers. He and Lanette Parker were married June 13, 1983, at Ames, Iowa.
He was a chemistry professor at Southeast Missouri State University for 33 years, and was the director of the Advanced Placement Program for 15 years. He was dedicated to his work.
Michael was a believer in Christ, and loved walking the beach.
Survivors include his wife, Lanette Rodgers of Cape Girardeau; mother, Mary Lou Bradley of Chesapeake, Virginia; daughter, Rachel Rodgers of Greensboro, North Carolina; and two sisters, Deborah Compton of Chesapeake and Karen Sheets of Topeka, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial gathering will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of choice.
