Michael Reitzel, 70, of Jackson died Monday, April 8, 2019, at his home.

He was born Nov. 12, 1948, in St. Louis.

He and Joyce Blair were married for 28 years. She preceded him in death in November 2003. He then married Sue Ellyn Pirtle in 2008.

He attended Jackson High School.

He served in the U.S. Marines Corps from 1966 to 1970, including as a sergeant in the Vietnam War in 1968.

He was a lineman with Citizens Electric in Perryville, Missouri, for 33 years.

He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838, Marine Corps League: Cpl. Mason O. Yarbough Det. No. 1081, Military Order of Devil Dogs No. 66 and Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3775.

He attended Connection Point Church in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ellyn Reitzel of Jackson; son, Charles M. Reitzel of Imperial, Missouri; two daughters, Sarah Reitzel of Sikeston, Missouri, and Veronica Manwaring of Murphysboro, Illinois; stepson, Kevin Harter of Farmington, Missouri; stepdaughter, Valerie Doron of Perryville; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Reitzel; half brother, Gerald Long; and half sister, Roseanne Long.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Graveside service, with full military honors, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Jim Stroman officiating.

The family wishes to thank Southeast Hospice for the excellent care given.
