Michael McClain
GILMAN, Ill. -- Michael David McClain, 58, of Gilman entered into eternal life at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at the Gilman Health Care Center in Gilman.
Michael was born March 26, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, to John Lewis and Dortha Mae Gremar McClain. His childhood was spent in Chaffee, Mo., and Kankakee, Ill. He attended Chaffee and East Ridge schools, and graduated from Westview High School in 1969.
He married Cynthia Voyles on Feb. 14, 1969, in Joliet, Ill.; she survives.
Michael moved from Missouri to Kankakee at the age of 16. He then moved to Onarga, Ill., in 1972, where he resided until moving to Gilman in 2004.
Michael attended Gospel Assembly Church in Bourbonnais, Ill., and the First Apostolic Church of Sheldon, Ill., where he was an ordained minister.
He was a carpet installer for 23 years with D and D Carpeting, a national sales manager for Stalker Radar and owned and operated McClain Marketing. Michael retired in 2004, due to illness.
He enjoyed singing, shooting pool, bowling, hunting and fishing.
Surviving children include Lisa (Paul) Westerman of Brighton, Ill.; Lisa (Vic) Wells and David (Cherie) McClain, all of Onarga, Rebecca (Dan) Rushbrook and Tiffany (Brad) Dines, both of Danforth, Ill.
He is also survived by his mother; two sisters, Janice Felderhoff of Texas and Deanna Davis of Georgia; two brothers, Mark McClain of Bourbonnais and Jeff McClain of Missouri; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Brother Danny Weedman will be officiating, and the burial will be in the Onarga Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Iroquois County Chapter of Thrivent Financial.
