Michael Wayne Lawrence, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at General Baptist Nursing Home in Campbell, Missouri.

He was born April 2, 1949, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Woodrow Raymond Clyde and Flossie Jewel Eason Lawrence.

He served in the Army and was a cook most of that time. After his military service, he worked as a cook at Scott Air Force Base.

Michael received a business degree from Southeast Missouri State University.

He was formerly a member of Cape County Cowboy Church. He was a very godly man.

Survivors include six daughters, Tracey Lawrence of Cape Girardeau, Trena Lawrence of Jackson, Shawna Lawrence of Cape Girardeau, Cyndi Bradley of Festus, Missouri, Shelley (Robin) Williams of Cape Girardeau and Dawn Kelley of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Burl (Elizabeth) Lawrence of Cairo, Illinois, Earl (Judy) Lawrence of Jonesboro and Melvin (Rose) Lawrence of Jackson; 19 grandchildren, Aaron Gostowski, Taylor Lawrence, Darian Lawrence, Zane Acord, Kaylynn Bridges, Rosalina Vasquez, Amber Gostowski, Jude Schwepker, Alexander Santos, Layana Parrow, I'yana Parrow, Kayliana Lawrence, Brittany Williams, Cassandra and Bethany Morris, Jesse and Tesla Austin and Kristin and Jason Bradley; and three great-grandchildren, Ophelia Borneman, Viola Borneman and Addison Lawrence.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Lawrence; and sister, Barbara Knuckles.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m., Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nate Ammon officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Full military rites will be provided by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
