Michael Steven Hellman Sr., 67, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born May 2, 1955, in St. Louis to Herman Hellman Jr. and Pansy Crites.
He and Terrie Masters Hellman were married Nov. 21, 1973, in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of St. Andrews Church and an active member of his community. He served as the president of Freedom of Road Riders and was a Cub Master. He worked as the service manager for DATA Business Systems for many years before starting and co-owning M&H Pallet. He then operated his own trucking company until he retired.
Survivors include his wife; son, Joseph D. (Melinda) Hellman Sr. of Cape Girardeau; daughter-in-law, Allie Hellman of Cape Girardeau; brother, Buddy (Lynn) Hellman of Perryville, Missouri; three sisters, Connie Mann of Cape Girardeau, Jane Meyr of Cape Girardeau and Gail Lindsley of Washington State; five grandchildren, Joey, Alexandria, Andie Grace, Jett Rose Jonnie Hellman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Steven Hellman II.
A private graveside service will be on Friday, Feb. 10, at Fairmount City Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau
