Michael John Eftink, 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, May 17, 2021, at Lutheran Home.

He was born April 8, 1940, in Portageville, Missouri, on Lovers Lane, to Henry and Delpha LaFont Eftink. He was son No. 2 in a family of seven boys and one girl.

Mike was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Catholic High School Class of 1958. A few years after high school, he began his career as an over-the-road truck driver, criss-crossing the country many times, making lifelong friends wherever he went. He retired in 2002 and traded in his Freightliner for a camper.

He, his wife, Jean, and their poodle, Phoebe, continued to travel, but this time strictly for fun. They ended up in South Texas, escaping many of the cold Midwest winters. It was there that he discovered his love for woodworking. He acquired lots of tools over the years and built many beautiful items for family and friends. Mike was also an avid card player and could be found at most family gatherings sitting at a table, with his brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews playing "Eftink Pitch."

He loved his big family and took great pride and joy in his kids, grandchildren and, most recently, his great-granddaughter.
