Michael Richard Eakins, 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Delta Friday, Nov. 20. 2020. He had recently been placed in hospice following challenging years of COPD. He was born to Coy and Mary Moreland Eakins Aug. 1, 1950, and lived most his childhood in the Des Peres/Kirkwood, Missouri, area.

He was a 1969 graduate of Kirkwood High School.

Mike was a machinist after high school and spent several years as a truck driver before becoming disabled. He loved vegetable gardening and was most happy when he had a fishing pole in his hand. He was of the Baptist faith and was at peace to join those in heaven that preceded him.

Mike was preceded in death by both parents. His memorial stone was placed next to theirs at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Mike is survived by Linda Lee Eakins and their dog, Blake, of Delta. He also leaves behind a daughter, Kristy (Terry) Gower of Carthage, North Carolina, and two grandchildren, Hannah and Ashlynn; two sisters, Judy Bean of Ballwin, Missouri, and Linda Marie Eakins of Jackson; a niece, Linda Sue Bean; a nephew, Bobby Bean; and a great-niece and great-nephew.

Due to Mike's wishes and COVID, there was no public service.

Liley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
