MICHAEL E. MATNEY

MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Michael Eugene Matney, 19, of Mound City, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 11, 1974, in Charleston, Mo., son of Herman E. and Linda L. Rodgers Matney.

Matney was employed at Service Master Industries in Cairo. He was a member of Mound City Fire and Rescue Department, and attended Cairo Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Linda and Jerry Walls of Mound City; his father and stepmother, Herman and Millie Matney of Columbia, Mo.; a sister, Stephanie Matney of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jamie Matney of Mound City; a half sister, Elizabeth Matney of Columbia; maternal grandmother, Hattie Rodgers of Charleston; paternal grandmother, Hazel Williams of Columbia; three stepbrothers, Jason Palmer of Columbia, Andy and Phillip Palmer of Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cairo Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Potts will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City after 5 p.m. today, and at the church Thursday from 9 a.m. to service time.
