SCOPUS, Mo. — Michael Busby, 64, of Scopus passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 20, 1951, in St. Louis, the son of James Harold and Maude Evelyn Johnson Busby.
Michael was raised in the Dupo and Roxana, Illinois, area and loved restoring old cars and watching NASCAR racing. He worked for SEMO Ready Mix as a diesel mechanic and attended New Salem Baptist Church near Marble Hill, Missouri. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lit up his days.
Survivors include his significant other of 30 years, Marsha Goucher of the home; a son, Craig (Dawn) Busby of Maryland; daughters, Michelle Busby of Illinois, Tina (Greg) Mason of Doniphan, Missouri, and Sharon (Chuck) Cathcart of Perryville, Missouri; uncles, Ray Busby of Perryville, Homer Busby of Arkansas and Wayne Busby of Florida; aunts, Geneva Carroll of St. Louis and Ruth Tinker of Perryville; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Jeff and James Busby.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Missouri.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Greg Mason officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
