ESSEX, Mo. -- Michael Avery, 60, of rural Essex died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 28, 1947, at Sikeston, Mo., son of Ira and Jean Brown Avery of Whitewater, Mo. He and Ruth Francis were married June 26, 1965, at Frisco, Mo. She survives of the home...

ESSEX, Mo. -- Michael Avery, 60, of rural Essex died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 28, 1947, at Sikeston, Mo., son of Ira and Jean Brown Avery of Whitewater, Mo. He and Ruth Francis were married June 26, 1965, at Frisco, Mo. She survives of the home.

Avery was a self-employed carpenter.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sherry Crider of Cape Girardeau; his parents; three brothers, James Avery of Whitewater, Steve Avery of San Antonio, Dennis Avery of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dalton Avery officiating.

Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery near Bloomfield, Mo.
