Meta Vanieta Hunt, 91, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Monticello House in Jackson. She was born Sept. 1, 1926, at Pocahontas, the daughter of Ernst and Anna Dreyer Walther. Meta and Harold Hunt married Dec. 25, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1996, after 47 years of marriage...

Meta Vanieta Hunt, 91, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Sept. 1, 1926, at Pocahontas, the daughter of Ernst and Anna Dreyer Walther. Meta and Harold Hunt married Dec. 25, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1996, after 47 years of marriage.

Meta was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aid and volunteered with numerous other activities at the church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, canning, weekly card games and her Bible study group.

Loving survivors include two sons, Dennis (Linda) Hunt of Woodbine, Maryland, and their children, Andrew (Leslie) Hunt and Emily (Michael) Preissner, and David (the late Lisa) Hunt of Jackson and their children Lauryn (Tyler) Collins and Logan (Joseph Wilson) Hunt; and three great-grandchildren, Joseph Lorn Wilson, Lily Christine Collins and Olivia Jane Preissner. Also surviving are two sisters, Nelda McMurtry and Irene Hurst, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Hunt; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hunt; and seven siblings, Albert, Gilbert, Hilda, Bertha, Corine, Bernice and Helen.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Zion Lutheran Church.
