Funeral service for Merrill F. Gentry of Hannibal will be held at 10 a.m. today at Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal, with the Rev. Michael McIntyre officiating. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. in Memorial Park, with the Rev. James Sanderson officiating.
Gentry, 72, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
He was born Oct. 18, 1924, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ralph and Freida Shultz Gentry. He and Mary F. Harmon were married Aug. 1, 1948, in Oran.
Gentry was a graduate of Central High School, received a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and master's degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
He was an industrial arts instructor at Hannibal Public Schools 32 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Arch Street United Methodist Church and the church board, and served as a financial assistant.
Survivors include his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
