SIKESTON, Mo. -- Merlin Nickell, 78, of Sikeston died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born in Sikeston, son of Jeff and Mattie Cash Nickell. He and Inez King were married July 3, 1948.
Nickell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.
He worked at the International Shoe Co. until its closing. He then worked at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in the Engineering Department until retirement.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve Nickell of Lexington, Mo.; a daughter, Sandra Younger of Sikeston; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Jim Guffie will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
