PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Merle A. Wibbenmeyer, 84, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 3, 1926, in Perry County, Mo., to Vincent and Elvira Hoffman Emmendorfer. She and Anton "Tony" Wibbenmeyer were married June 1, 1948, in Perryville. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1999.
Merle was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include seven children, Doris (Jim) Rehkop of Perryville, Diana (Jerry) Balsman of Jackson, Larry (Vicki) Wibbenmeyer of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Linda Wibbenmeyer of Perryville, Sharon (Gary) West and Jane Steele of Cape Girardeau, Faye (Steve) Bohnert of Perryville; a daughter-in-law, Pam Wibbenmeyer of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Chalmer Emmendorfer of East Moline, Ill., Weldon Emmendorfer of Canton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; with four great-grandchildren on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Wayne and James; a brother, Lloyd; a granddaughter, Bridgett; and a son-in-law, Etson Steele.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Saturday at Miller Family Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
