Melvin Glenn Summers, 80, of Black Earth, Wis., passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.
He was born Aug. 9, 1933, on the family farm near Whitewater, son of Glenn W. "Jim" and Laura Weisenstein Summers.
The family moved to Cape Girardeau in November 1945, where Melvin lived until June 1993 when he moved to Black Earth.
He is survived by a brother, Gene (Mary Miron); a niece, the Rev. Teri Summers-Minette (Dan Minette); four nephews, James, Jon (Shellia), Robert "Rob" and Tony; two great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with Teri Summers-Minette officiating.
Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City, Wis., is in charge of arrangements.
