Funeral for Melvin A. Ross of Wildwood was held Wednesday at Schrader Funeral Home in Ballwin. The Rev. Dean Wilson officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Kirkwood.
Ross, 87, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Clayton House Healthcare in Town and Country.
He was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Cape Girardeau, son of Elza L. and Ethel Dodson Ross. He and Lela Rice were married May 19, 1935.
Ross was a graduate of Central High School.
He worked many years for Frisco Railroad. He was one of the founders of United Transportation Union, and retired as the international vice president.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Ross of St. Louis County; a daughter, Linda Weigel of St. Louis County; three sisters, Dorothy March and Velma McNeely of Cape Girardeau, Thelma Skinner of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
