PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Melvin P. Rollet of Perryville died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at his residence. He was 68.
He was born in Perry County on May 21, 1942, son of the late Everett and Neoma Lawrence Rollet. He was formerly married to Joanne Cissell Streiler on July 25, 1959, and she survives of Perryville.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters, Kim Kapp of Jackson, Paul Rollet of Perryville, Mark (Cindy) Rollet of Perryville, Melody Rhodes of Millersville, Mary Jo (Ken) Place of Montgomery, Ill.; one brother and two sisters, Elvis (Shirley) Rollet of Perryville, Anna (Jack) Hoffman of Manteno, Ill., Donna Voelker of Perryville; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, William "Bill" Voelker.
Mr. Rollet was a truck driver for Gilster-Mary Lee and River Eagle. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, booster member for AMVETS, VFW and American Legion, also member of Knights of Columbus and Perryville Elks.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home, with a Catholic wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial preference: St. Vincent Memorial Garden, St. Vincent Athletic Department, JDRF Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or St. John's Mercy Cardinal Kids Cancer Center.
