Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Monsignor Edward Eftink will officiate.

Mr. Riney was born July 17, 1927, in Lithium, Mo., son of Murphy and Marie Thompson Riney. He and Delores Ritchey were married July 22, 1944. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin Jr. "Butch" and Phyllis Riney of Jackson, David and Becky Riney of Jackson and Darrell and Leslie Riney of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Linda Wilson of Jackson; six grandchildren, Jim Schamburg, John Riney, Sherry Light, Kimberly McCarroll, Lauren Riney and Michael Riney; four great-grandchildren, Caitlynn Schamburg, Racheal Riney, Sterling McCarroll and Hyland McCarroll; two brothers, Kenneth Riney and Marvin Riney, both of Perryville, Mo., and one sister, Verna Renicke of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeffery Lynn "Jay" Riney.

Mr. Riney was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson for 35 years. He had worked with Todt Industrial Supply for 25 years. He was co-owner of MJL Sales for 11 years. He had been semi-retired for the past year.

He was past-president of the Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau and was past District President of the Exchange Club of the Missouri and Iowa District.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
