PULASKI, Ill. -- Melvin T. Laws, 59, of Chaplin, Conn., formerly of Pulaski, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at the Windham Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1941, in Detroit, son of Tobin H. Laws and Helen Parmly Laws Creacey. He was married to Shirley VanDeusen Laws.
He was an Army veteran. He was employed for 25 years at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Conn., and was retired.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Billy Laws.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Anna, Ill.; three sons, Brian Laws of Colchester, Ill., and Michael Laws and Joseph Laws of Hebron, Conn.; a daughter, Stacey Zacher of Willimantic, Conn.; three brothers, Carl Laws of Lebanon, Conn., John Laws of Bossier, La., and Patrick Laws of Ullin, Ill.; and seven sisters, Tobie Hutton of O'Fallon, Ill., Marilyn Kerr of Pulaski, Linda Jones of Benton, La., Charlene Halphen of Houston, Texas, Darlene Henard of Dongola, Ill., Bonnie Kerr of Vienna, Ill., and Patricia Hodges of Metropolis, Ill.
Friends may call for one hour prior to the funeral at 11 a.m. on Nov. 30 at the Potter Funeral Home in Willimantic. Burial will follow in the Willimantic Cemetery.
