MELVIN L. SITZE

MARBLE HILL -- Melvin L. Sitze, 57, of Marble Hill died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at his home.

He was born March 31, 1941, at Bessville, son of Luke "Jed' and Beulah Butler Sitze. He and Diana Long were married Aug. 8, 1970.

Sitze was a member of the Liberty Congregational Methodist Church and the Bessville Neighborhood Watch. He worked for many years as a clerk for the Peters Co. and Bollinger County Builders Supply in Marble Hill.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Christy McMurty of Belleville, Ill., Theresa Shaffer, Tracey Teal and Heaven Sitze, all of Marble Hill; four sisters, Edna Irvin, Evelyn Robins and Linda Long, all of Marble Hill and Lola Henson of Maplewood; two brothers, the Rev. Clark Sitze and Harley Sitze, both of Marble Hill; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Kirby Grindstaff and Jeff Lohrstorfer officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery in Bessville.
