ADVANCE -- Melvin Junior Riley, 70, of Advance, died Monday, May 9, 1994, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born May 3, 1924, in Hartman, Ark., son of Oliver and Theora Richie Riley. He and Juanita Myers were married Dec. 21, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.

Formely of Essex, he had resided in Advance since 1957. He was a member of Morley VFW Post, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roger and Alan Riley of Jackson; two daughters, Paula Gregori of Katy, Texas, Carla Riley of Advance; five brothers, Calvin Riley of Anchorage, Alaska, Kenneth Riley of Sikeston, Leon Riley of Scott City, Carvin and Don Riley of Wichita, Kan., and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a child and a brother.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Carrol Myers officiating. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex.
