Funeral for Melvin M. Haertling of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Haertling, 83, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Aug. 2, 1917, son of Arno and Ida Gerharter Haertling. He and Evelyn Meyr were married Oct. 10, 1940, at New Wells, Mo.
Haertling lived and farmed in the Fruitland area until moving to Cape Girardeau in 1949. He retired from Sheet Metal Local 36 in 1979. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Men's Club.
Survivors include his wife; and a brother, Hugo Haertling of Millstadt, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
