OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Melvin G. Dunning, 75, of Steger, died Friday, March 5, 1993, at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1918, at Olive Branch, son of Amos and Estella Cartner Dunning. He married the former Vivian Stevenson.
Dunning was a brick mason and subcontractor, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Park Forest, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Chung of Indiana; five sons, Larry Dunning of Steger, Lloyd Dunning of Chicago Heights, Lyndal Dunning of Michigan, Michael Dunning of West Frankfort, David Dunning of Park Forest; five sisters, Zelva Bennett of Tamms, Lois Scarmeos of Granite City, Margaret Francis of Wood River, Doris Jennings and Mary Davis of Edwardsville; a brother, Leslie Dunning of Edwardsville; 24 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held March 8 at First Baptist Church in Park Forest, with the Rev. Phillip Maschenrose officiating. Burial was in Skyline Memorial Park at Manee.
