MARBLE HILL -- Melvin B. Hinkle, 70, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, June 12, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born June 4, 1923, at Cape Girardeau, son of Clarence and Naomi Bess Hinkle.

He was married to Ruth Vanmatre Bollinger, Sept. 29, 1978.

Hinkle was a retired automotive parts salesman for the Jim Wilson Company of Cape Girardeau.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was of the United Methodist faith and a life member of VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Perry Hinkle, David Hinkle, Larry Hinkle and Scott Hinkle, all of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Barry Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Roy Hinkle and Howard Hinkle, both of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Helen Bowden and Evelyn Barker, both of Cape Girardeau; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a stepson.

Friends may call after 4:30 today at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, with the Rev. John Ferguson and the Rev. Lloyd Engelmann.

Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. There will be military rites given by VFW Post 3838.
