ALTENBURG -- Melvin B. Hecht, 67, of Altenburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 22, 1927, at New Wells, son of Rudolph and Alieda Wachter Hecht. He and Rose Roth were married May 8, 1954, at Shawneetown.
Hecht was a lifelong farmer in the New Wells community. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at New Wells, its Men's Club and had been active in the Dart Ball League many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ron Hecht of Jackson; three brothers, Ellis and Gene Hecht of Shawneetown, Terry Hecht of Altenburg, and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today, and at Immanuel Church after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
