MELVIA PAYNE

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Melvia Payne, 87, of Tahlequah and formerly of McGee died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995.

She was born Dec. 23, 1908, at McGee to John W. and Flora M. McKee Burnley. She was married to Vergil D. Payne, who died in July 1990.

She was a homemaker and a former member of the Shady Dell General Baptist Church of McGee.

Survivors include a son, Troy V. Payne of Redwood City, Calif., and two daughters, Nadine Whitley of Hulbert, Okla., and Melba Keeds of Hanford, Calif.; a sister, Mamie Walk of McGee; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Revs. Eldo Eaker and Ray Placher officiating. Burial will follow in McGee Cemetery.
