JACKSON -- Melissa M. Roth, 98, of Jackson and formerly of Cape Girardeau died Friday, August 9, 1991, at the Deal Nursing Home in Jackson.
She was born Dec. 27, 1892, at Farrar, the daughter of Adolf and Josephine Aurich. On Dec. 27, 1919, she married Theodore J. Roth in St. Louis, who preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1951.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She also was the switchboard operator for the telephone company in Frohna several years ago, and in 1956, she moved to Cape Girardeau from St. Louis.
Survivors include a son, Shirley Roth of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Rosalind Thompson, of St. Louis; four granddaughters, Karen and Judy Scherer, both of Benton, Becky Roth of Paducah, Ken., and Betty Barton of St. Louis; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Carl Richardson will officiate, and burial will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Frohna.
