PATTON, Mo. -- Melba Lou Sharrock, 76, of Patton passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born at home, the 10th child of 13, on Nov. 2, 1941, at Marquand, Missouri, daughter of James and Lula Shrum Mills. She and Donald Ray Sharrock were united in marriage July 12, 1958. PATTON, Mo. -- Melba Lou Sharrock, 76, of Patton passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born at home, the 10th child of 13, on Nov. 2, 1941, at Marquand, Missouri, daughter of James and Lula Shrum Mills. She and Donald Ray Sharrock were united in marriage July 12, 1958. He survives on the farm in their home community in Patton.

In 1970, they moved to Scott City, where they raised two children, Rocky (Connie) Sharrock and Dr. Teena Lou Sharrock, both of Scott City. They have one grandson, Donald "DJ" Joseph Sharrock of Rolla, Missouri.

Melba was always active in church and was known for her talent of playing piano and singing. In her early years, she sang with her siblings in a quartet. She held several jobs, but was mostly proud of her ownership of two restaurants. Melba was well known for her laugh and sense of humor, cooking and pies, flowers and gardening, and caretaking of others. She was a friend to many that knew her and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include three sisters, Metta Matthews of Jackson, Helen Griffin Bramer of Fredericktown, Missouri, and Mavis (Clyde) Revelle of Patton; five brothers, James (Nina) Mills and Ray "Frog" (Clara) Mills, both of Fredericktown, Jesse (Wilma) Mills, Ronnie (Bonnie) Mills and Melvin (Carolyn) Mills, all of Marquand; and nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Julius, Hubert, Charles and Donald Gene; and two dear brothers-in-law, Harold "Bud" Sharrock and Sammie Sharrock.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray "Frog" Mills and the Rev. Kevin Mills officiating. Interment will take place in the Patton Cemetery in Patton.
