GORDONVILLE, Mo. -- Melba H. Deneke, 84, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born March 5, 1917, at Tilsit, Mo., daughter of William and Minnie Siebert Neumeyer. She and Roy Deneke were married April 19, 1939, at Gordonville. He died Dec. 10, 1999...

GORDONVILLE, Mo. -- Melba H. Deneke, 84, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 5, 1917, at Tilsit, Mo., daughter of William and Minnie Siebert Neumeyer. She and Roy Deneke were married April 19, 1939, at Gordonville. He died Dec. 10, 1999.

Deneke was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church and was organist many years. She was a former president of Women's Society of Christian Service, former Primary Sunday School superintendent, former director of Vacation Bible School and had been a 4-H leader many years.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald and James Deneke of Gordonville; a daughter, Kathryn Miller of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Church, with the Rev. Ann Mowery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
