Megan Emaline Pridemore, 31, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, surrounded by her family, at her home in Jackson. Megan valiantly fought cancer for more than three years.

She was born April 16, 1992, in Cape Girardeau to Tim and Sharon Yamnitz Rush. She and Kevin Pridemore were married Nov. 17, 2018, in Cape Girardeau. They had one son, Declan.

Megan was a 2011 graduate of Jackson High School and a 2015 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She received a master's degree in 2017 from SEMO. During her high school and college years, she worked at Wib's Drive-In in Jackson.

She was employed as a speech therapist at Mercy Hospital Perry in Perryville, Missouri, and First Steps for Kids, which served the surrounding area.

Megan had a gift for making people feel loved and special. She loved music, especially Britney Spears. Her dogs had a special place in her heart.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband of nearly five years, Kevin Pridemore, and their son, Declan of Jackson; her parents, Tim and Sharon Rush of Jackson; brother, Tray (Shona) Rush of Lee's Summit, Missouri; paternal grandparents, Ira and Sylvia Rush of Jackson; maternal grandparents, Don and Sarah Mayfield of Jackson; Kevin's mother, Rose Shafer of Cape Girardeau; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ray Yamnitz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. At 7 p.m., visitation will be paused for family and friends to share memories.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home, with Josh Yates officiating. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests the Declan Pridemore Education Fund.
