Mealy Bazzell, 93, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 14, 1912, near Burfordville, daughter of the late Linus and Dora Bell Crader Stroder. She and Paul Bazzell were married Aug. 4, 1929, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away in 1982...

Mealy Bazzell, 93, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 14, 1912, near Burfordville, daughter of the late Linus and Dora Bell Crader Stroder. She and Paul Bazzell were married Aug. 4, 1929, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away in 1982.

Mealy worked at the former Jackson Poultry Co., the former Jackson Shoe Factory, and had worked in the cafeteria and dormitories at Southeast Missouri State University. She retired while working at Jackson Bowling Lanes.

Mealy was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Georgia Bazzell, and Richard and Linda Bazzell, all of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jerry Dewrock of Cape Girardeau; and a half sister, Ruby Stroder of Millersville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Bazzell, in 1990; two grandsons; three half brothers; and a half sister.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
