CAIRO, Ill. -- Mayme Jacobson, 96, of Cairo died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.

She was born Oct. 20, 1901, in Fulton, Ky., daughter of George and Margaret Brown Edwards.

She was a telephone operator for the Illinois Central Railroad until her retirement.

She was married to Walter Jacobson. He died in 1947.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a brother, Lewis S. Edwards of Cairo, a nephew and two nieces.

Service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barkett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Interment will be in Greenlea Cemetery at Fulton.

Friends may call at the funeral home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Monday.
