Maxine Wells Shell, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her home. She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Greenbrier, Mo., to W.G. and Ada B. Lloyd Cato. Maxine was a third-grade teacher 24 years at Alma Schrader School. She was a member of Covenant Christian Center in Fruitland and of Alpha Delta Kappa Retired Teachers Association...

Maxine Wells Shell, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at her home.

She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Greenbrier, Mo., to W.G. and Ada B. Lloyd Cato.

Maxine was a third-grade teacher 24 years at Alma Schrader School. She was a member of Covenant Christian Center in Fruitland and of Alpha Delta Kappa Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by a son, Kent (Phyllis) Wells of Jackson; a daughter, Lisa (S. Jay) Santi of Marble Hill, Mo.; two stepsons, Bob (Dottie) Shell of Bowling Green, Ky., Rodney (Gloria) Shell of Morehouse, Mo.; three grandchildren, Nicole, Jessica and Samuel Santi; six stepgrandchildren, Adam Lorenz, Amy Lorenz-Moser, Stacey Miller, Sara Shell, Candy Gibson and Justin Shell; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Webster Eli Wells in 1958; second husband, Leon Albert Shell in 1994; four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with Terry Culberson officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of donor's choice.
