Maxine Morton, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 7, 1928, in Bollinger County to Luther Raymond and Polly James Cook. She and Billy J. Morton were married Sept. 7, 1946, in Patton, Mo. He died March 9, 1967.
Maxine worked at Southeast Missouri State University, retiring in 1994. She loved country music and going out to eat.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Anderson of Cape Girardeau; a son, Scott Morton of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Jolene Carroll of Jackson; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sons, Larry, Gene and Boyd Morton; and a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.
