THEBES, Ill. -- Maxine McFarland, 78, of Thebes died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 12, 1931, in St. Louis to Ernest and Millicent Sturm Dettrie. She and Thomas McFarland Sr. were married in 1948. He preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1987.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas E. McFarland Jr. of Thebes, Wayne McFarland (Margie) of Louisville, Neb.; a daughter, Linda McFarland of Thebes; six grandchildren, Darin Scruggs, Adam King, Zachary, Madalyn, Zoie and Jedadiah McFarland; six great-grandchildren, Taryn Jo, Joseph and Taylor Scruggs, Kylie Dunlap, Elijah and Jonah King; two sisters, Valada Kobush and Nora Barrett of St. Louis; two brothers, John Dettrie of St. Louis, David Dettrie of Farmington, Mo.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a grandson, Christopher; and a brother, Freeman Dettrie.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and from 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Monahan officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Olive Branch, Ill.
Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
