Maxine J. Tibbs, 81, of Jackson died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Walter and Nanna Bell Aubuchon Long. On Feb. 2, 1936, she married Leo Tibbs in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death in 1960...

Maxine J. Tibbs, 81, of Jackson died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Walter and Nanna Bell Aubuchon Long. On Feb. 2, 1936, she married Leo Tibbs in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death in 1960.

Tibbs worked as a proofreader for Missouri Litho and Printing for 26 years and retired in 1980. She later worked for J.E. Cooks as a bookkeeper. She retired in 1990.

She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a brother, Bob Long of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Kim Hemmann of Jackson; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Hemmann; five nieces; one nephew; and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
