Maxine L. Fluegge, 83, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at West County Care Center in Ballwin, Mo.
She was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Roy W. and Viola Leonard Hamilton. She and Marvin A. Fluegge were married June 15, 1947. He passed away Feb. 19, 2005.
Maxine graduated from Central High School in 1947. She worked 27 years at the former Schaper's IGA in Jackson, retiring in 1990 as a bookkeeper. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson, and was active in other civic and church organizations. Upon the death of her husband she moved to the St. Louis area to live with her daughter. She then transferred her membership from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson to St. John Lutheran Church in Ellisville, Mo.
Loving survivors include three sons, Ronald (Vicki) Fluegge of The Colony, Texas, Leslie (Barbara) Fluegge of Ocala, Fla., Randy (Terri) Fluegge of Wildwood, Mo.; a daughter, Dawn (Ralph) Callier of Manchester, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and five brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
