Maxine L. Eakins, 83, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Jackson, daughter of Dr. Dennis Edward and Anna Wilhelm Crites. She and William E. Eakins were married Nov. 29, 1939. He died Sept. 4, 2003.
Eakins was a graduate of Jackson High School. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ and its Friendship Circle, and a former Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include three sons, Edward W. Eakins of Cape Girardeau, Roger L. (Donna M.) Eakins and Alan R. (Donna K.) Eakins of Jackson; a brother, John C. Crites of Jackson; a sister, Julia Statler of Kimberling City, Mo.; a granddaughter, Dana (Jeff) Grindstaff; two grandsons, Michael (Amanda) Eakins and Kevin Eakins, a granddaughter, Jenny Eakins; and a great-grandson, Mason Drew Grindstaff.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emanuel United Church of Christ.
