WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- Max Terril Wood, 67, of Wappapello died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at his home.
He was born April 29, 1933, at Dexter, Mo., son of David Estle and Mimia Belle Wood. He and Becky Cox were married Oct. 17, 1992, at Wappapello.
Wood was a member of Hills Church at Bloomfield, Mo. He spent most of his life in the Bloomfield-Dexter area, but had lived in Wappapello since 1990.
He had worked most of his life in construction, operating heavy equipment and had worked for Arvin Automotive in Dexter. He retired in 1992 and became self-employed in bulldozing and hauling gravel and dirt.
Wood served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a life member of Wappapello VFW Post 3416, Wappapello Eagles Aerie 4066 and was a charter member of Bloomfield Amvets.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Melinda Jennings of Bloomfield; two sons, David Wood of Wappapello, Armand Wood of Bloomfield; a brother, Billy Wood of Seminole, Fla.; two sisters, Betty Carlton and Dorthy Bledsoe of Dexter; two stepsisters, Becky Nichols of Morehouse, Mo., Judy Billings of Arkansas; three stepsons, Charles and Clifton Hoffmann of Sikeston, Mo., Eric Hoffmann of Broken Arrow, Okla.; seven grandsons; and five stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Steven Mayo, James Hook and David Hardin officiating. Burial will be in Caroline Dowdy Cemetery.
