BERTRAND -- Maurice Warren, 76, of Bertrand died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born April 9, 1921, in Dothan, Ala., son of A.W. and Eudora Byrn Warren. BERTRAND -- Maurice Warren, 76, of Bertrand died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born April 9, 1921, in Dothan, Ala., son of A.W. and Eudora Byrn Warren. He and Ethel Richmond were married May 12, 1977.

Warren formerly lived in Mateno, Ill., where he was a business agent for American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees of Illinois.

He retired in 1986 and moved to Bertrand. He was a member of Mateno American Legion, First Baptist Church in Bertrand, and VFW Post 4294 at Charleston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bill Warren of Wingo, Ky., Bob Warren of Villa Rica, Ga., Fred Warren of Memphis, Tenn.; four daughters, Daurice Hoffman of Cherokee Village, Ark., Mary Potter and Joyce Clark of Wappapello, Brenda Fitzgerald of Sikeston; three stepsons, Gregory Shykes of Denver, Colo., Eugene Shykes of Bertrand, Robert Shykes of Rapid City, S.D.; a sister, Mildred Stanley of Sikeston; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lawrence Ray officiating. Burial will be in Maynard Cemetery.
