SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Maude Lee Kurtz, 97, of Scott City died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born March 9, 1904, in Esto, Ky., daughter of Dudley and Myrtie Hudson Grider. She and Alfred T. Kurtz were married June 28, 1925, in St. Louis. He died June 10, 1978...

SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Maude Lee Kurtz, 97, of Scott City died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 9, 1904, in Esto, Ky., daughter of Dudley and Myrtie Hudson Grider. She and Alfred T. Kurtz were married June 28, 1925, in St. Louis. He died June 10, 1978.

Kurtz had been a riverboat cook. She was a member of Illmo Baptist Church.

Survivors include five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, five sisters, and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Bell officiating. Burial will be in Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.
