MAUDE BESS

JACKSON -- Maude Bess, 87, formerly of Jackson Route 1, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1991, at Cedargate Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff.

She was born Oct. 2, 1904, at Millersville, daughter of Alexander and Rhoda Jane Wills Cramer. She married Hobson Bess Nov. 2, 1924, who died June 26, 1985.

Bess had lived on the family farm from 1924 until moving to Cedargate in 1988. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church here since 1960.

Survivors include two sons, Cramer Bess of Perryville, Gene Bess of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Mildred Phelps of Jackson, Ruth Morris of Arnold; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and grandson.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. William Bernauer will officiate, assisted by the Rev. John Gilbert. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
