Maud E. Thomas, 87, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at her home. She was born June 23, 1918, at Sulfer Rock, Ark. She and Howard Thomas were married Nov. 23, 1942 in New Madrid, Mo. Maud was a homemaker and previously owned and operated the Downtowner Restaurant in Cape Girardeau. She was a loving and caring person, feeding many in the restaurant that were not as blessed as well as she and her family. Maud was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau...

Maud E. Thomas, 87, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at her home.

She was born June 23, 1918, at Sulfer Rock, Ark. She and Howard Thomas were married Nov. 23, 1942 in New Madrid, Mo.

Maud was a homemaker and previously owned and operated the Downtowner Restaurant in Cape Girardeau. She was a loving and caring person, feeding many in the restaurant that were not as blessed as well as she and her family. Maud was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include her husband of 63 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, James C. and Faye Thomas of Bloomfield, Ind., Howard W. and Jane Thomas of Oriole, George E. and Peggy Thomas of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry L. and Fred Barker of Wenatachee, Wash.; two sisters, Dorothy Babb of Dallas, Texas, and Betty Haskins of Cape Girardeau; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond McAfee officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
