Maud E. Hahs, 98, of Jackson died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Monticello House, where she had lived since March 2002.
She was born Jan. 8, 1906, at Whitewater, daughter of August and Annie Baker Gartung. She and Ellis "Doc" Hahs were married May 20, 1927, in Jackson. He died Feb. 21, 1955.
Maud was a charter member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson. She owned and operated a boarding home for the elderly in Jackson many years. She lived at her home on Nellie Street more than 40 years.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Betty H. Hahs; a grandson, Robert Hahs; a granddaughter, Paula Tucker and husband Kenneth; four great-grandchildren, Annie Tucker, Kady Tucker, Molly Hahs and Samuel Hahs; and a nephew, Bobby Barks and wife Claueda, all of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Paul "Jake" Hahs, who died in 1979; a brother, and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pringle officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
