Mattielou McIlhaney Oliver, 90, 3120 Independence, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1992, at Chateau Girardeau.
She was born July 19, 1902, in Mayo, Fla., daughter of J.B. and Daisy Dyess Horne. She was a graduate of Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee (now Florida State University), and taught several years before her marriage to the Rev. Bernard A. McIlhaney in 1929, who died in 1959. He was pastor of First Presbyterian Church from 1941-47.
She later married Burett Oliver in 1964, who died in 1971. He was senior member of Oliver and Oliver law firm.
Oliver was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Chapter GF of P.E.O., and was one of the first residents of Chateau Girardeau.
Survivors include two sons, Bernard McIlhaney Jr. of Atlanta, Gla., Milton McIlhaney of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Martha Kendall of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, Macy Averitt of Swainsboro, Ga.; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Charles Grant officiating. A reception will follow in the church parlor. Private burial will be in Decatur, Ga.
There is no visitation.
