CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Mrs. Mattie Inez Verble of the Lutheran Home will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Mrs. Verble, 98 years old, died Tuesday, March 12, 1991, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 7, 1892, in Wolf Lake, Ill., daughter of John and Mary Smith Shirley. She married Harry Lee Verble March 29, 1908, who died Aug. 26, 1939. Mrs. Verble was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Wolf Lake.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Irwin of Cape; eight grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Wayne, Ray and Dennis Verble; a brother, Wayne Shirley, and a sister, Clella Shirley.
