CAIRO, Ill. -- Mattie Brown, 101, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 25, 1895, in Robinsville, Miss., daughter of Andrew and Hayes Johnson Kimble. She and Landis Julius were married in 1915. He died in 1936. She later married Willie Brown in 1964, in Cairo. He also preceded her in death.
Brown moved to Cairo in 1946. She was a member of First Central Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Landis Julius of Harvey; five grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, six sisters, and six brothers.
Friends may call at First Central Baptist Church after 10 a.m. Saturday.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. James Posey officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
