MATTHEW WARFIELD

CAIRO, Ill. -- Matthew "Mat" Warfield, 93, Cairo Route 1, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 1995, at his home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1902, son of Milton and Sarah Warfield. He and Allene M. Johnson were married in 1928.

Warfield had been a farmer, and served on the Lake Milligan School Board in Miller City.

Survivors include three sons, Shirley Warfield of Cairo, Winfield Warfield of Beloit, Marland Warfield of Chicago; five daughters, Madeline and Urna Warfield of Milwaukee, Wis., Lynelle Lee of Muskegon, Mich., Mary Morrow of St. Louis, Atra Warfield of Klondike; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three daughters, four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Algee Memorial Chapel in Cairo from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Percy Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds.
