Matthew Richard Byrd, 59, of Sikeston died April 3, 1993, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

H was a retired crane operator.

He was born Nov. 16, 1933, in Brilliant, Ala., the son of George Byrd and Daisy Burnett Byrd. They preceded him in death.

He married his second wife, Ann Brewer Shaver, on June 18, 1976, in Sikeston. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Rose Byrd, whom he married April 3, 1951. She died March 30, 1976.

Other survivors include two stepsons, Quenton Shaver of Marion, Ark., and Terry Shaver of Marble Hill; three daughters, Martha Hughes of Downers Grove, Ill., and Lois Ann Haynes and Jeannie Kay Dorris, both of Sikeston; two stepdaughters, Linda Miednerorf of Paris, Texas, and Brenda Dorris of Spring Valley, Neb.; two brothers, George Byrd Jr. of Texarkana, Ark., and Leetis Byrd of Bertrand; three sisters, Lucille Taylor of Haleyville, Ala., Lenora Goza of Sikeston and Willa Mae Young of New Madrid; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and six stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston with the Rev. Pat Hogan of the Shady Acres Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Haleyville.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 5 p.m. today.
