VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Matthew E. Whitley, 14, of Villa Ridge died Saturday, Aug. 10, 1991, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau from injuries he sustained in an all terrain vehicle and truck accident Saturday.
He was born Jan. 13, 1977, in Cairo, Ill., the son of Bob Whitley and Sharon Henderson Whitley.
He attended Meridian Community Unit District 101, near Mounds, Ill., where he would have been a freshman this fall. He also was a member of the Olmsted Kourey League.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Sharon and Danny Ivey of Villa Ridge; his father, Bob Whitley of Chaffee, Mo.; three sisters, Tabatha, Telitah and Bobbi Jo Whitley, all of Villa Ridge; a maternal grandmother, Nellie Henderson of Villa Ridge; and a paternal step-grandmother, Frieda Ivey of Olmsted.
Graveside funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Ill. The Rev. Ernest Browning will officiate, and burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
